Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, has a long history as a port on ancient east-west trade routes, ruled successively by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. That heritage is reflected in its architecture, mixing colonial buildings with high-rises and shopping malls. The imposing Colombo National Museum, dedicated to Sri Lankan history, borders sprawling Viharamahadevi Park and its giant Buddha.

Day 2 - Travel | Colombo - Habarana
En route visit Dambulla Cave Temples.
Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the surrounding plains.
There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. Major attractions are spread over five caves, which contain statues and paintings. These paintings and statues are related to Gautama Buddha and his life. There are a total of 153 Buddha statues, three statues of Sri Lankan kings and four statues of gods and goddesses. The latter include Vishnu and the Ganesha.

In the afternoon climb to the top of Sigiriya. Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an 8th wonder of the world is a rare jewel among the many treasures in Sri Lanka. The famous Sigiriya frescoes of the buxom, waspwaisted maidens bearing flowers, amidst the wilderness and ancient ruins.
Day 3 - Travel | Habarana - Polonnaruwa
After breakfast proceed to Polonnaruwa.
Polonnaruwa, enthralls its visitors with a timeless reflection of the country's glorious history. Once the site of Sri Lanka's second medieval capital, the quaint landscapes studded with sites of archaeological importance are all well preserved.
Day 4 - Travel | Mihintale
After breakfast climb Mihintale.
Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is now a pilgrimage site, and the site of several religious monuments and abandoned structures.
Day 5 - Travel | Habarana - Kandy
We now continue to explore more wonders of the country.
Kandy, referred as the hill capital, Sri Dalada Maligawa that houses the sacred tooth relic of Buddha remains the prime landmark. Apart from the ancient monuments, the delightful jumble of antique shops and the bustling market are place to visit.

Kandy cultural show - Sri Lanka, a country rich with culture & tradition offers a very vibrant and unique show of Sri Lankan Tradition dances, in the form of Kandy cultural show. The beat a dancing from \"Salupliya\" depicting several demons, \"Thelme\" vibrant expression of low country rhythm, Fire and Harvest dances accompanied by Ceremonial Drums and the Drum Orchestra rising and falling to the lively tempo. As many as 12 different folk and Tradition dances are performed by Kandy lake club dance troop within the span of one hour.
The highlight of the show is definitely the fire walking show, where the artists walk through a specially prepared fire pit, roughly 8 feet by 3 feet covered with red-hot charcoal, completely barefoot and emerges unharmed at the other end!.

Day 6 - Travel | Kandy - Peradeniya
In the cool of the morning visit Peradeniya Botanical Gardens.
Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, although its origins date back to the era of medieval times, bears a rich history punctuated by colonialism and industrial change. The splendor of the gardens, further uplifted by the river that flows through its fringes.

Day 7 - Travel | Kandy - Nuwara Eliya
After breakfast proceed to Nuwara EliyaNuwara Eliya, dubbed the 'Little England' of Sri Lanka is located in the thick, misty hills of this paradise isle.
The colonial atmosphere remains preserved, resembles a British countryside complete with rose gardens, hedges and red roofed bungalows. En route visit a tea factory to learn all about how the world-famous Ceylon Tea is made.

Day 8 - Travel | Nuwara Eliya
Enjoy a trek to Horton plains in the early morning.
Horton Plains in Sri Lanka, is the coldest and windiest location in the country. It consists of ecosystems such as Montana evergreen forests, grasslands, marshy lands and aquatic ecosystem. At an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level, Horton Plains spreads across over 3,169 hectares of the highest tableland of the island.
In view of the large number of endemic flora and fauna species, Horton Plains was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 30th July 2010.
Day 9 - Travel | Nuwara Eliya - Ella

The Nine Arch Bridge also called the Bridge in the Sky, is a bridge in Sri Lanka. It is one of the best examples of colonial-era railway construction in the country. The construction of the bridge is generally attributed to a local Ceylonese builder, P. K. Appuhami, in consultation with British engineers.

Day 10 - Travel | Ella
After breakfast proceed to Little Adam's Peak.
Don't defiance the beautiful tourism site in Sri Lanka, Little Adams Peak whether considering the word 'Little',it is named after the sacred Adams Peak (Sri Pada - where the foot print of Lord Buddha is preserved) regarding the similarity between the two mountains. Therefore, the mountain was called as Little Adams Peak.
"Punchi Sri Pada" is another name for this peak. It is 1141 m in height. Little Adam's Peak attracts many travelers who come to Sri Lanka. Gradually with an easy hike up to the mountain of Little Adams Peak you can consummation a worth panoramic view. You have to walk through lush green tea plantations, waterfalls and paddy fields while enjoying the sceneries.
At evening visit Adisham Bungalow.
Adisham Hall, or Adisham Bungalow is a country house near Haputale, in the Badulla District, Sri Lanka. At present it houses the Adisham Monastery a congregation of St. Sylvester.
The house was built in 1931 by an English aristocrat and planter Sir Thomas Villiers, former Chairman of George Steuart Co, a trading and estate agency based in Colombo. Sir Thomas was a grandson of Lord John Russell and descendant of the Dukes of Bedford. It was designed by R. Booth and F. Webster in Tudor and Jacobean style, on 10 acres (40,000 m2) of land. Adisham Hall played host to many prominent personalities of the colony until the retirement of Sir Thomas, after which it was sold to Sedawatte Mills. In 1961 it was purchased by the Roman Catholic Church and was subsequently converted to a monastery. The house is well preserved along with its period fittings and furniture, and is open to visitors.

Day 11 - Travel | Ella - Udawalawe
After breakfast proceed to Galle.
Udawalawe National Park lies on the boundary of Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces, in Sri Lanka. The national park was created to provide a sanctuary for wild animals displaced by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River, as well as to protect the catchment of the reservoir.
After that arrive to the Udawalawe Elephant Transfer Home for watching baby elephants.
Day 12 - Travel Udawalawe - Galle
After breakfast proceed to Galle.
The fortified old town is enjoying an artistic renaissance and the beautiful beaches around it are dotted with luxurious villas and classy boutique hotels. The revival of Galle, in fact, has quietly influenced its coastline, which has regained its confidence and which has become a favored retreat for intelligent, independent traveller.
Day 13 - Spend at Galle
